A native of Kirkland, Steve started playing his mother’s Baldwin organ while in junior high. Within a couple of years, he talked his parents into a Farfisa portable keyboard and began jamming with friends from Lake Washington High School. He played with a couple of the early Northwest “garage” bands including the Uptown Express and Blue Condition which featured Ann Wilson (later of Heart) as the singer.
The keys were on sabbatical while Steve was building his real estate career and helping raise his children. In the late 1990’s playing music moved back to the front burner. Performing weekly gigs with Night Train Blues Band pushed Steve to get some more lessons and a Hammond B3. Influenced by Jimmy Smith, Steve Winwood and Tower of Power, Steve was elated to be asked to play with the Sciaticats. “I’ve always wanted to play in a horn band and these Cats wail.”
